Canon AE-1 - 1976

• First camera controlled with a microprocessor

• $413 with f1.8 lens in 1977 ($1486 in 2010 dollars)

The AE-1 was the second automatic Canon SLR, after the very expensive Canon EF of 1973. It was priced for the masses, thanks to automated manufacturing, and sold well, probably the most popular SLR of all time. Various reports state that it sold five million units.

One of them was sold to me in 1976, to replace my Konica FP (also in this app).
