About GPSTrackViewer
GPSTrackViewer shows a GPS track log.
It allows you to:
-
View the track
-
Zoom in to see individual track points
-
Analyze the track to show starting and stopping times, total distance, total time, etc.
-
Mark track points
-
Export marked track points to a GPX file
-
View a selected point on a Google Map
-
Reformat GPX files for use with ImageIngester
GPSTrackViewer can't add points, combine tracks,
or do other kinds of editing other than exporting marked tracked points
to another GPX file.
How to Use GPSTrackViewer
To start, open a GPX track log whose file name ends in ".gpx". Then use the zoom in and zoom out buttons
to select the zoom in/out tool, or use the zoom slider.
Press Reset to return to the normal view.
Use the hand tool or the scroll bars to scroll.
Use the select tool to select one or more points. Then, choose Mark Selected
(on the Edit menu) to mark those points.
Continue selecting and marking (or unmarking with Unmark Selected) until you have
the desired part of the track marked.
Save the marked part of the track to a GPX file with Save Marked on the File menu.
Saved tracks are in a format usable by ImageIngester, which is much more restricted than GPSTrackViewer
in what GPX files it can read.
To view a point on a Google Map, select it (doesn't matter if its marked) and choose Google Map
on the Tools menu. The first selected point in time order will be shown in your default browser.
To analyze the track, choose Analyze on the Tools menu.
Make sure you first set the time zone for the location of the track, and whether Daylight Savings/Summer
time was in effect.
(It's the time zone of the track location, not necessarily that of the computer on which you're running.)
The entire track is analyzed,
not just the part selected or marked.
The analysis appears in the text field at the bottom of the window.
Hardware and Software Requirements
GPSTrackViewer should run on any computer that runs Mac OS X Versions 10.4 (Tiger) or 10.5 (Leopard),
